2.4.4 Reuse of treated wastewater for indirect drinking water use after retention in an aquifer

The Torreele water plant in Koksijde is on the Belgian North Sea coast. Since 2002 it has treated municipal
wastewater from the Wulpen WWTP, which is used for artificial recharge of the dune aquifer of St-André,
which is then abstracted for further treatment for drinking water use. Over several years, the groundwater
level has lowered and this has led to saline intrusion. The artificial recharge was implemented to prevent
this. The plant has a treatment capacity of 6,850 m3 /d and applies a double membrane process:
        ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis.

        2.4.5 Hydraloop Smart Water Saving

It offers a variety of smart, innovative water recycle products for residences, buildings and boutique hotels.
