Introduction to the topic
A coherent EU immigration policy is also being developed, the aim of which is to exploit the opportunities
offered by legal immigration. This policy will be able to meet the challenges of illegal immigration. Work is
ongoing to improve security through better external border controls, while facilitating the arrival of those
with the right to enter the EU.
